The Hotel

Portinari is located in a historic building which has operated as a luxury hotel for over a hundred years. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the famous Hotel de Londres was the place to stop for the most luxurious carriages and prestigious visitors of Bruges.

These days, the hotel is just as famous as it was in the past for its central location, elegant rooms and warm hospitality. In the eighties, the hotel was procured by the Lootens family, who renovated it and gave it a new name. London was traded for Tommasso Portinari, after a Florentine banker who made a name for himself in the 15th century in Bruges. Portinari was the first hotel in Bruges to offer an extensive breakfast buffet with all sorts of mini-sized sandwiches, croissants and pastries.

Throughout the years, the hotel has seamlessly integrated modern style and convenience with classic elegance. A peaceful and harmonious color palette was chosen for the contemporary interior of the Portinari Hotel. The owners of the hotel are art lovers who enjoy sharing their collection with the guests. The latest additions include modern calligraphy and antique posters. You can admire them on display in the hall, brasserie and tea room.

Every morning a lavish, unlimited breakfast buffet is served. Everything is always fresh and delicious. Guests can take advantage of our south-facing terrace or relax in the lounge. If you’d like to try one of our specialty Belgian beers, just ask our bartender for a suggestion.
